In January 2022, the country was gripped by grief following the murder of primary schoolteacher Ashling Murphy. The talented musician was out for a run after school when she was attacked and killed along the bank of the Grand Canal in Tullamore Co. Offaly. People came to the town
from all over the country to sympathise with and support Ashling’s family, as the country mourned the loss of the beautiful teacher.
